Corak Malaysia is a project focused on data collection, documentation, analysis, and design, with an emphasis on copyright registration to protect traditional heritage and make it relevant for future generations. The project aims to engage younger generations by promoting the use of these designs across various forms and media.

The launch event, held on 22nd May 2022 at Kopi Mesin Heritage in Kota Bharu, included both physical and online attendees from institutions such as Universiti Malaysia Kelantan (UMK), Universiti Teknologi Mara (UiTM), Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM), and organizations like the Malaysia Craft Council (MCC), Kelantan Art Association, and Kelingkan Craft representatives, among others.

During the event, project leaders Mr. Nik Faiz (Mr. Gahara) and Mr. Azzaha Ibrahim (Varna Art Gallery) gave detailed presentations on Corak Malaysia, elaborating on its goals and impact. The event, titled “Corak Malaysia ~ Unleashing The New Heritage,” was also covered by media outlets, including Kelantan TV.

This initiative is a crucial step toward preserving and safeguarding the identity of Malay motifs. It was well-received by the public and is supported by awareness campaigns and other initiatives to educate and promote these designs to a wider audience.
